A Nature Focused Lake Michigan Wedding Venue

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center was on my bucket list for quite some time, and I was beyond excited when Amy & Anton asked me to document their wedding day. From the moment you arrive, there’s something about surrounding yourself with beautiful views and being in nature that helps bring about a calm wedding day atmosphere.

Midwest Shorelines and Forest Trails at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is located on a hill, only a few miles from the beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline. On this October wedding day, there was the brisk bite of late fall chill in the air; however, the majority of the conservancy was still vibrant and green with the trees holding onto the last remnants of summer.

Because of this, Amy & Anton chose to be married indoors in front of the fireplace. Regardless, they still intentionally built in chunks of time where they could break away to explore the beauty of the conservancy.

In addition to its natural beauty, Schlitz offers a unique mix of beauty and practicality. A few standout features include:

A wide range of scenery, from forested trails to Lake Michigan views and peaceful pond boardwalks
A golf cart “shuttle” that allows for easy movement around the property while still keeping the day relaxed and on schedule
Several ceremony options, including outdoor, covered, and indoor spaces within the nature center
