A Unique and Playful Kitsch Style Wisconsin Wedding

Emma and Ben, two creative-Midwest-cool-Illinoisans, like to do things their own way. They dreamed of putting together something unique. A wedding that felt less like a quick single-day event and more like a weekend escape.

A Kitschy, Retro-Inspired Wisconsin Wedding Weekend

They decided to do a weekend long wedding hotel takeover: where friends and family would gather by the pool, or wander between rooms, cocktails in hand, blurring the line between wedding and vacation. Wanting to keep things easy (and delightfully Midwestern), they skipped the flights and landed on Wisconsin Dells, bringing everyone to the wonderfully quirky Wintergreen Resort.

Vegas Elopement Energy Meets Midwest Wedding Style

When Emma and Ben described their creative vision, the words kitschy wedding and Vegas-elopementfeel kept coming up. Think vibrant colors, unique signs, tassels, and delightfully unexpected details. A heart shaped, “You Are Entering the Land of Love” sign. A martini glass neon sign straight out of a mid-century postcard. And a reception that felt part dinner party, part retro lounge. Nothing too polished or formal, just intentional fun, personality, and a love and appreciation for the unconventional.

Designing a Wedding That Doesn’t Take Itself Too Seriously

For couples who don’t want to follow strict trends, this is a reminder to embrace what you’re drawn to. Whether it’s a retro-inspired wedding, vintage details, or venues with character, Emma and Ben’s day is proof you don’t have to follow tradition to create something meaningful. You just need to commit to your vision and have fun with it.

This wedding was so Emma and Ben, and that’s what made this day so lively and memorable.

A quick stop at House of Embers – a classic Wisconsin Supper Club with a cozy atmosphere and charming decor. This is the spot where Emma and Ben hosted their welcome dinner the night before.
