Searching for an outdoor wedding venue to fit the theme of your day? I spent some time putting together a list of 5 Outdoor Wedding Venues that stand out from the rest.
01. Camp Wandawega / Wandawega Lake Resort in Elkhorn, WI
Wanting to stay true to your love for the outdoors and nights spent camping under the stars? Over the years, the historic Camp Wandawega has hosted some amazing, down to earth couples looking to embrace something a little less traditional and a little more relaxed and fun. Seriously, this place has teepees, a treehouse, an A-Frame cabin, tent cabins and more. Just thinking about it gets me excited for all the unique photo opportunities. Once you hop onto their website you’ll be inspired to dive in and start planning your camp-themed wedding.

02. Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI
Chula Vista has worked hard to bring new meaning to the phrase ‘Wisconsin Outdoor Wedding’. This past year, Chula Vista Resort incorporated two new outdoor ceremony sites that are unique and completely different from what other venues nearby offer.
Chula Vista’s Chapel on the Green – This is Chula’s newest outdoor venue, located on Cold Water Canyon Golf Course, and it brings playful modern architecture to the outdoors. The architecture itself is appealing, but I can’t help envisioning how stunning it would be to incorporate hanging florals or carefully curating cohesive floral arrangements on the surrounding modern trellises.
Because shade is limited, I’d recommend a sunrise ceremony or a late afternoon / early evening ceremony so the lighting is perfect and you and your guests will be comfortable.
Fairway Grove – Looking for something with more trees that has you feeling like you’re in the north woods? This ceremony site is tucked into a forest-like setting and offers a scenic and intimate experience for all involved.
Sara Jihan Fassil and Sherry Watkins of 1209 Creative could take these ceremony sites to the next level with their amazing visions and creative skills, and better yet, they are now offering their services in Wisconsin!
03. The Barn at Harvest Moon Pond in Poynette, WI
This family-owned barn turned wedding venue has a lot of character. Equipped with a bridal suite, groom suite and central heating and air conditioning to tackle any Wisconsin weather situation. Your outdoor ceremony takes place under a weeping willow tree, and with the altar facing east; this spot is perfect for a late afternoon or evening ceremony. Love the idea of incorporating pizza? This place has a wood-fired oven outback! So grab a beer, or a glass of wine, and indulge in some delicious wood oven pizza on the patio.
If you are looking to serve wine or beer you’ll have to provide your own bartender. This makes it fun. Either ask a few people you know or let your guests be just that—guests—and hire an experienced traveling bartender like Heather Rae of Heather Rae Mobile Bartending.
04. Rustic Manor 1848 in Delafield, WI
It is possible to use the word ‘barn venue’ and ‘elegant’ in one sentence. This charming spot located in south central Wisconsin is situated on 12 acres surrounded by thick woods and meadows. Rustic Manor 1848 is fully furnished to accommodate your entire day by offering a separate bridal and groom suite for getting ready, indoor and outdoor ceremony location options, reception location, and offers central heating and cooling. Want to know the best part? Couples are offered a single night stay at their on-site bed & breakfast suite.
05. Wisconsin Backyard Wedding
Last but not least, let’s take a minute to fully embrace and appreciate the one-of-a-kind backyard weddings I’ve photographed and fallen in love with. These couples go above and beyond to make sure their event is something to remember. A lot of time and energy goes into this type of setting, but with the help of great friends and family these are always an intimate affair, and guests rave about the experience months after the fact.
